Upon waking up after a night of camping, we headed to one of the many trails in the park for a hike through the forest. Again we took off on a long drive towards Crater Lake National Park. We stopped at a small town microbrewery for a pizza buffet lunch. Being that we were already tired after a somewhat sleepless night, we passed on trying some of their wonderful microbrew. We arrived at Crater Lake a couple of hours later to a blustery wind and some light rain. Seeing the clouds roll in across the lake was definitely breathtaking. We continued our drive around the lake to get caught in a snow storm at ~6000 feet above sea level. This did not cause us any delays in our travel though and we made it safely to the only trail which leads down to the lake. We hiked this 1.1 mile round trip trail with a 700 foot drop in elevation. It was definitely worth the pain to make it to the bottom to see the lake and crater from that level. Upon making it back to the top, we headed north a bit to camp for the night. Our site was right on Diamond Lake and was a beautiful view at sunset.
