Upon arriving in Salta, I did the first sensible thing…well, I guess I did it second (after getting a place to stay)…I grabbed dinner and beer. After spending ten hours on the bus, it was a welcome refreshment. On Wednesday I did a few things that had to be taken care of, the most important of which was laundry. Then it was off to see what the city had to offer. I took the day to relax and check out the city. I knew that one of the things I really wanted to do in Salta was to spend a day and night on an estancia to go horseback riding and eat some good food. That´s what I did on Thursday for Thanksgiving. Instead of turkey we had a ton of great meat for lunch and then empanadas for dinner. We also had liters upon liters of some fantastic wine. It was also Enrique´s birthday, so we helped him celebrate. I also met this great couple from Canada who spent the night there as well. We all had a good time and would have stayed Friday as well if we didn´t have other things we wanted to see. On Friday I decided to rent a car and head north to check out a few other places that I had heard about and was told I should visit. I drove north to the Jujuy province and saw Cerro de los Siete Colores (Hill of Seven Colors) in Purmamarca. I then drove to Tilcara where I planned to spend the night. I also saw Humahuaca where I saw this awesome thunderstorm come rolling in from the mountains. Saturday it was an early start so that I could make it back to Salta and catch my plane for Buenos Aries. I spent Saturday night in Palermo, where I ate at this fantastic restaurant that was highly recommended to me by some students I had met that were studying in BA. I try not to eat at the same place twice in my travels as I like to experience a number of different places, but I´ll be back to this place before I leave. Sunday I did some more exploring before heading to Puerto Iguazu to spend a few days checking out the falls.
