The entire purpose of my trip to Puerto Iguazu was to check out the falls, if I had a chance to go over them in a barrel, that would have been an added bonus. After exploring the town Sunday night, I headed to bed so that I could get an early start the next morning. It was the Argentine side of the falls that would be explored first. As we were flying into Puerto Iguazu the day before, I was disappointed that we didn´t fly over the falls, but was extremely impressed with the huge untouched forest that I could see for kilometer upon kilometer from the plane. Upon arriving at the falls, I first checked out the upper part of the falls (Circuito Superior). I was excited to see the variety of wildlife that I did, which included birds, lizards, and monkeys. Next it was the lower part of the falls (Circuito Inferior) where I spent quite a bit of time walking up and down stairs. I was able to get quite a bit closer to the falls though and see them from below. The views which were offered were amazing. After that, I was happy to take the short train ride to see the Devil´s Throat (Garganta del Diablo). The power of all of that water flowing down is amazing! Tuesday found me making the trip to the Brazilian side of the falls. I was a bit worried as I should have a visa as an American. Luckily that proved not to be a problem since I was just going for the day. This side of the falls provided a much different, yet equally spectacular view of the falls. It amazes me that these falls are two kilometers across! I definitely took enough pictures to prove it :) We had a bit of a problem trying to get back to Argentina though. None of the buses wanted to stop to pick us up! It would have been easy to walk across the bridge, but it is not permitted and with agents there watching, I wasn´t about to try it and end up in jail. Luckily a bus finally stopped and picked us up as well as some Argentinians that had been shopping and filled the bus with bags full of their new goods. Wednesday was a leisurely day around town in the morning as I flew back to Buenos Aries that afternoon to head to Uruguay for a few days before ending my trip back in BA.
