When traveling in the past my plan has been to travel without many plans. Basically I would have a rough idea of where I wanted to be and when, along with an idea of how to get there. That was my same “plan” this trip as well. Unfortunately that did not work out so well for me.
Upon arriving in Buenos Aires (an hour late) I headed straight for the airport across town to try and get a flight to Ushuaia. All of the flights were booked for the next two days and the next flight was not scheduled until Wednesday. I did not want to spend this much time in BA as I had already been there previously. After finding a place to spend the night, it was time to actually do a bit of planning for this trip. It took me awhile to find an Internet cafe but I found one and booked flights for Ushuaia and El Calafate. I would have to miss out on Bariloche but instead would head to Montevideo the next day for two days. I would book the Buquebus the next day and be off. Nothing more to worry about!
I slept in on day 2 and upon waking up walked to the Buquebus terminal to book my travel. It was a nice trip to Montevideo, but again I was stung by my lack of planning. It seemed like all of the hotels that i stopped at were booked! I finally ended up for one night at the Four Points hotel paying way too much. I spend the rest of the day exploring the city and trying to find a room for the next night as I could only get one night at the Four Points.
While planning on not having plans has not served me well on this trip, I have figured out what I need. Rooms have been booked in Ushuaia and El Calafate. I will spend more time than I hoped in El Calafate, but I am looking forward to relaxing there.
