Wow, my last day in Roma and what a trip! Although today started off with the hot water in the shower running out and turning extremely cold! That wasn’t much fun, but finally finished had breakfast and decided to finally visit the Vatican Museums. There was a bit of a wait in line, where I met a guy from Poland who I walked around of the place with. The museums were amazing! So much stuff. The Sistine Chapel was great as well. Unfortunately it filled up with people and became really packed later in the day. After finishing at the museums, I headed back to San Pietro’s Basilica one last time. By this time I was pretty hungry and found a place for lunch that was recommended by my book. Lunch was fantastic!!! Homemade pasta, vino, and chicken. I was really going to miss this food. After lunch I headed back to the hostel to relax a bit. I talked with a couple from England that I had met the previous day and talked with one of my brother’s friends who was living in Rome. He and I ended up getting together for dinner and gilato. Since the first train to the airport the next morning was AFTER I needed to be there, I decided to spend the night in the airport. This was the start to a 27 hour trip home! I stayed awake most of the night and finally boarded my plane in the morning. We were delayed leaving Rome and therefore ended up in Frankfort late. This caused me to miss my connection to Dallas. I was not a happy camper at this point! They scheduled me to fly through DC and then back to Dallas. This caused me to be 6 hours late coming home! I was extremely pissed off from this and just being tired. I was met at the airport by a nice surprise. Amy and Andy were there looking for me. Since Andy knew I was supposed to be home earlier and get together with him for lunch, he was worried when I didn’t call so he started trying to track me down. I was extremely surprised to see them and really appreciated that they were there and worried. My trip to Rome has come to a close. Now I have to upload all of my pictures and finish unpacking. It’s been an adventure. Ciao!
